Dear Stomach,
I'm sorry about last night. I was out of line. I don't know what got into me. I didn't mean to upset you. I realize now that the ridiculous foods I consumed with Carolyn last night were not as good of an idea as they seemed at the time. I'm sorry. I was wrong. Please accept my apology. Please stop hurting.
I love you.

Queen For A Day
I have such amazing friends & family. Everyone is so happy & excited for me. My BFFs have gone above & beyond. I feel like a queen. On Monday, Carolyn took me to lunch (b/c it's never too early to start planning). Then Mary Katherine brought me 2 wedding cake cupcakes from GiGi's Cupcakes. They were the prettiest, tastiest cupcakes I've ever eaten. I'm seriously considering using them in my wedding.
On Tuesday, I got flowers from my future sister-in-law, Sally, & my friend Katy, who lives in Denver. They were both beautiful arrangements. My office has smelled wonderful all week. All my friends have sent me such sweet emails & left hilarious comments on both my blog & my MySpace page.
Everyone at work has come in to my office to congratulate me, even the guys. My friends Lauren & Chrissi are taking me to lunch tomorrow to show me their wedding notebooks/organizers & to give me some tips. They're both recently-ish married. I can't wait! Let the planning begin!

I'm getting hitched! (Pun intended)
Today I feel like the happiest, luckiest gal in the world. John proposed last night. It was very private and very sweet. A perfect proposal. My grandmother gave me the rings her father (my great-grandfather) gave to her mother. Unbeknownst to me, John got the rings while we were visiting them during Christmas. So he's had them this whole time! The rings are beautiful & obviously very meaningful since I'll be the 3rd generation to wear them. I won't be wearing the ring for about 2 weeks because it's at the jewelers being re-sized, cleaned, etc. Oooh, maybe I'll have a ring-viewing party once I get it. I'll keep you posted.
I'm engaged!!!

NYC Follow-Up
My trip to NYC was great. I had such a good time. It was the perfect balance of shopping, debauchery & spending time with Tiff. The entire trip can be summed up in 2 words: pork slap. After a long day of shopping on Sat, Tiff & I stopped in Whole Foods to get beer & check out dinner options. While we were paying we saw this display of locally brewed beer called Pork Slap. It was love at first sight. We bought it. It's the funniest can of beer I've ever seen & it was actually pretty tasty. Needless to say, our favorite phrase, "Smack some bitches up" has been modified to, "Pork slap some bitches up".

Blog & the City
I'm writing from Tiffany's computer in Brooklyn. My flight was mucho delayed on Thursday night. I didn't get to Tiffany's until almost 2am. So yesterday was kind of a wash. I was just too tired. I did hit the big H&M on 5th Ave though. We're going to Soho today, so I'll probably hit the 2 down there as well. Mission numero uno today is tennis shoes. I wore my black boots, thinking they'd be the way to go because they're flat, comfortable, etc. Wrong. My feet are killing me. I tried to find some Chuck Taylors yesterday, but no one had my size. I want the dark grey ones & all I can find are bright yellow & green. No.
We're also going to hit CB2 today. I'm pretty excited about that because I've never been in one. I've seen their catalog though. Good stuff. I may go down to Chinatown, too. I'm interested in that new Burberry perfume, The Beat. I also need a watch. I've haven't been down to Chinatown in years, hopefully it won't disappoint.
I think that's it for today: chucks, H&M part deux, CB2 & Chinatown. Tonight we're going to this karaoke bar in Red Hook called Hope & Anchor. I'm so excited! I can't wait to watch everybody sing their favorite ridiculous song. Maybe I'll sing. Maybe....

Smack Some Bitches Up!
My test last night SUCKED. It was quite possibly the most ridiculous test I've ever taken. One section of the test included a group of paragraphs written with inaccurate statements. You had to determine which part was inaccurate & then rewrite the paragraph with the correct info. If this sounds familiar it's because you had the same test in 8th grade.
Okay, totally changing topics. I don't know if everyone knows this, but I have a psychic connection to Ice T. Seriously. It started in NYC when I went to a Donna Karen Halloween party & he was there. I had way too much to drink & kept standing beside him saying "Smack some bitches up". Yeah. So after I humiliated myself at that party, I kept running into him all over NYC. I think Tiffany & Lauren were with me one day when he & his wife, Coco, sat beside us at a restaurant in Little Italy. Right?
Anyway, I'm psychically connected to Ice T. Just trust me. The other night I had a dream I was at an Ice T concert hanging out backstage with Coco. THEN, that same night, TiVo recorded Conan O'Brien (which it's never recorded before) & guess who the guest was that night. That's right, Ice T. So I've apparently started some sort of psychic triangle between myself, Ice T & TiVo.
I leave for NYC tonight after work. I'm so excited! You probably won't hear from me again until Monday, so enjoy your weekends. I hope the Easter Bunny is good to you.

Weekend Recap
I eventually simmered down on Fri night. The beer & the beef jerky helped. John took me to dinner, then we came home & watched Michael Clayton, which was really good. I'm slowly working my way through all the Oscar-contenders that I didn't see in the theater.
On Sat, I got up early & studied for my exam. I told myself if I read until 10am, I could leave the house for awhile. Well, at 10:15 my psychic friend Carolyn called asking me to meet her at the new West Nashville shopping center. I wanted to hit Old Navy to try on jeans & find something green & then we both needed stuff @ Target. I found & bought a pair of jeans -in a size I haven't been in almost 3 years!!! Hooray Weight Watchers! I also bought a cute green top for Lauren & Kelly's St. Pat's Day party later that night.
After Target, I came back home & studied some more, then I went to lunch with John & went with him to get his hair cut. His barber was closed so he went to this new barber in the shops @ Edgehill Villa. While he was getting his hair cut, I went into Queen Bee. They had a lot of cute stuff -a lot of stuff I've seen at Urban, Anthropologie & Shop SCAD in Atl.
Sat night we headed out to M'boro for Lauren & Kelly's annual St. Patrick's Day party. It was a lot of fun. Lauren is the hostess with the mostest, for sure. She pulled out all the stops on the green decor & the food (as always) was delicious. I love going to her parties!
Allright, time to get ready for work. Enjoy your Monday.

Drinking & Blogging
Today SUCKED. I just made the above purchases on my way home from work. Friday is supposed to be an easy day -a day to catch up & get ready for the week ahead. Well, not my Friday. Noooo.... So I'm having a beer & then I'm going to eat my jerky stick & maybe watch a little Ca$h Cab. If I actually leave the house tonight & you see me, run.
Cheers, bitches.

Breaking News!
The piece my boss did last week for The Colbert Report is airing tonight! The producer just gave us the heads up. It comes on at 10:30pm on Comedy Central -Channel 60 on Comcast. They'll re-run it tomorrow at 7:30pm for anyone who can't stay up late tonight. Watch! You might just see someone you know....
Class Shmlass
My class presentation went pretty well last night. I was supposed to be 3rd out of 5 presenters, but I ended up having to go 1st. The 2nd presenter was a no-show & the 1st one had to go down to her car to get her presentation. Whatever. I went 1st & it was fine. The presentation is only 10% of my grade. Hopefully I did well enough to compensate for the B I made on my 1st exam....
Those of you who talk to me on a regular basis, know my disdain for this class & the people in it. Well, last night didn't disappoint. There's this girl in my class who sits up front, keeps her head down & never speaks, which is highly irregular for this class. She always wears a hoodie & keeps her hood up, covering most of her face. Every class. Well, she was one of the presenters last night, and you guessed it.... she did her presentation wearing her hood. I wish I was kidding.
Exam # 2 is next Wednesday. I don't have nearly as much reading to do as last time, but I will need to spend the majority of my weekend studying (sorry John).
Speaking of weekends, I leave for NYC next Thursday. I'm so excited! I got a little surprise mid-Session bonus at work yesterday, which is going straight towards H&M -or an afternoon's worth of Harrisons @ Enid's. Either way, it will be well spent.

Biggest Loser
Did anyone watch Biggest Loser last night? Jillian went completely batshit on Alison Sweeney during the weigh-in. It was hilarious. I'm new to Biggest Loser, but I'm starting to understand why Jillian went away for a couple of seasons.... She clearly suffers from Tourette's syndrome.
The Blue Team has this ridiculous chant they do, "Pride on 3. Pride on 3. 1. 2. 3. PRIDE". Due to the influx of male crying on the last few shows, John & I have changed the chant to "Cry on 3". Seriously, I think Mark (the older Boston brother) is on steroids. It's the only logical explanation for the tear parade.
In other news, I have to give a presentation in my class tonight. My teacher is apparently not so much for teaching, so every class a different student is responsible for teaching a selected chapter to the class. It's horrendous & it's my turn tonight. Wish me luck.

Grrrr.....

I took a couple pictures of the snow early Sat. morning. I had a hair appt at 11am & by the time I got out, it was all pretty much gone. It was pretty while it lasted.
I didn't do much this weekend. Work is getting stressful & lately I'm just too tired to do much on the weekends. I don't mind seeing friends or going to dinner, but I'm definitely not in the mood to "go out". It's just too much work. And I HATE trying to find something in my ever-dwindling closet that won't make me look as old as I feel in a club full of 22 yr olds wearing the latest & greatest from where ever they shop. Urban? Goodwill? I don't know. I can't keep up.
I have to do this ridiculous class presentation on Wed., so I spent a lot of time this weekend working on that, but I'm pretty much done. This class is becoming a thorn in my side....
Clearly, the time change has put me in good spirits... Mondays are always hard, but for whatever reason, today is especially bad. And on that note...... I'll get back to work.

How I Became the Bomb

My good friends & favorite local band, How I Became the Bomb received a bit of exciting news this week (at least it was exciting to me & Ali). Karl Lagerfeld used their song "Kneel Before Zod" in his recent Fall 2008 fashion show. Apparently you can watch the show online. I've been unable to watch it because my stupid work computer doesn't have Flash & I keep forgetting to watch it at home. To see it, go to the Elle link below & use the scroll bar at the bottom of the page to find the right video clip. It's the second to last video - Karl Lagerfield Fall 2008. The clip is 1:58.
In other misc. news, has everyone already seen this blog? I read about it on Yewknee today & thought it was hilarious.
Colbert Report, part deux
The Colbert Report interview was hilarious. The producer & her assistant were both really nice and really funny. It was a good time. The producer even offered to give me a tour of the studio when I'm up there later this month. Yeah!
So after the interview they asked me & Nathan (our intern) if they could shoot some B-roll of us. I even had a line. I had to say, "You have a meeting in 15 minutes", haha. And, of course, I looked like crap yesterday. I didn't dress up because I knew I'd just be in our office all day & I didn't wash my hair. Of all days..... Oh well, I seriously doubt they'll use the footage, but we did have to sign release forms...
They're going to get back to us & let us know when the interview will air. I'll keep everyone posted. I don't think it will be anytime too soon.

The Colbert Report

Today The Colbert Report is coming TO MY OFFICE to interview my boss. They're interviewing him on a bill he passed earlier this year that will allow people with handgun carry permits to carry their guns into restaurants that serve alcohol.
It's a multi-location shoot, so it's going to take all day. Stephen Colbert isn't coming, apparently his producer does the interview then they edit Stephen in in post. Who knew? Regardless, it's really effing cool.
I feel like I'm Bff with both the producer & her assistant because I've talked to them so much in setting this up. I think I'm going to ask her if I can come take a tour of the studio when I'm up there in a few weeks.
In other news.... Christian won Project Runway -hooray! I made spaghetti last night & really carb-loaded it up , but I somehow managed to stay awake for the finale. I didn't like Jillian's final collection at all. I liked most of what she did on the show, especially the coats, but last night..... ehh, not so much. I loved Rami's collection, but I knew Christian would win. You can't get Posh's approval & not win.
In other TV news, Ghost Hunters came back on last night after a pretty long hiatus. I LOVE this show. And last night didn't disappoint. They investigated Fort Mifflin in Philly. It was scary as shit!
Allright, I've got to go so I can get Colbert ready.

Are You Hungry Tonight?
Recently, on a trip to the Smyrna Goodwill, I found a book titled, Are You Hungry Tonight? Elvis' Favorite Recipes. I love it for it's obvious kitsch factor. John loves it because he's hoping he'll come home one night to one of these recipes being served for dinner. He seems to be especially hopeful for something called "scrapple". I don't know what it is, but I'm 99% sure it involves canned meat.
My favorite part of the book is the hand-written inscription on the front page, "Jeff, I thought of you when I found this. I hope you enjoy it. Love, Denise". I wish I knew Denise, or anyone like her who would possibly buy me books like this & personally inscribe them.
My 2nd favorite part of the book is the last chapter, The Royal Wedding Cake. This chapter not only shows you Elvis & Priscilla's wedding cake, it also provides 9 pages of detailed instructions on how to recreate this cake for your own wedding. Seriously.
Weekend Recount
Running late for work. Here's a quick weekend recount:
Fri night: dinner @ Royal Thai with John, then home to watch more Sopranos
Sat: yoga, Cosmetic Market, Aveda, Target, Baja Burrito, American Idol on TiVo
Sat night: bad headache, finally decided to meet Carolyn & David @ Cinco for fajitas & margs
Sun: sister's 29th bday, lunch @ my parents', hang out w/ John & Bomb @ Lake Fever
Sun night: sushi @ new fav. restaurant, Ginza, then watched SNL & went to bed
My intern is going to be out today & tomorrow, so I'm really not looking forward to going to work & having to answer the phone for the next 48 hours. I HATE answering the phone. Ugh....
Oh, big news: I bought a ticket to NYC for Easter weekend. SO EXCITED! I'm going to spend some quality time with my BFF Tiffany & hopefully find a lot of cute spring clothes. H&M, mama's coming home!
