Fall Creek Falls Tri Training: Week 1

I'm competing in my first Olympic distance triathlon on August 18th.  Inspired by fellow East Nasty, Jackson Miller, I've decided to start blogging my training.  You're welcome.

This isn't my first week of training, obviously, but I'm labeling it that way for easiness.  Here we go!

Monday:
Rest
P2T Coaching:  5 minute brisk walk + 3 x (5 minute run / 3 minute walk) + 5 minute brisk walk

Tuesday:
Strength training:  60 minute circuit class, aka Hell Class
Short ride:  60 minutes/10 miles on Shelby Greenway (first time clipped in)

Wednesday:
EN run:  Run # 5, Walking Bridge, 4.31 miles
P2T Coaching:  5 minute brisk walk + 2 x (8 minute run / 5 minute walk) + 5 minute brisk walk

Thursday:
Strength training:  60 minute circuit class, aka Hell Class
Pool swim:  30 minute lap swim

Friday:
Pancake run:  3.23 miles

Saturday:
P2T Coaching:  Walk from 11th & Holly to Turnip Truck + 1.5 mile run + 0.5 mile walk
OWS:  1500 meters swim in Percy Priest Lake

Sunday:
Long ride:  25 mile ride on Natchez Trace (clipped in)
Brick practice:  2 mile run immediately after ride

Last week was a little rough because I was coming off a vacation where I didn't work out for 4 days.  I also over did it in Hell Class on Thursday & had dead legs Thurs-Fri-Sat.  I nailed the open water swim (OWS) on Saturday & feel fairly confident about being able to do that in the race.  I'm still terrified of being able to run the 10K after the 25 mile ride though.  I rode my first 25 mile ride yesterday, followed by a 2 mile run.  The ride was great, but the run was not.  Partly (mostly) because I was out there for 2 1/2 hours & didn't fuel & partly because this was my first brick practice in awhile.  We're going to continue this long ride + brick practice every weekend up until the race, so hopefully it'll get easier.

Homework for this week:  figure out my nutrition for the long ride/brick practice!!!

1) Awesome! I was inspired by Scott's blog and love reading other training blogs.

2) I don't know how you are doing Nikole's class and tri training at the same time. Holy soreness!

Ooh, thanks for the link, Jackson!

Yeah, Hell Class is prob not the smartest thing right now, especially the Thurs class, but I just keep going. It's so hard. On a soreness scale of 1-10, I stay at about an 11.
