Coffee Tawk

I've never been a big coffee drinker. I thought I didn't like coffee. I started frequenting Starbucks when I moved to NYC because I realized that's just what you do in the mornings, but I never ordered coffee. I've gone from the caramel macchiato to the nonfat chai to the soy vanilla latte. But here lately, I'm starting to like coffee, particularly the Starz Brew @ Star Bagel in Sylvan Park. So I'm thinking about buying a coffee maker. But what kind? I don't want an expensive one in the event that this is just a passing phase, but I don't want a crappy one either. I asked my friend & big-time coffee drinker, Lauren, what kind of coffee maker she has & she has a nice one that she received as a wedding gift. Actually, I think she said it only cost around $70, but that's still more than I want to spend. Suggestions?

I like to use a french press but that requires boiling water beforehand.

I use a French Press most days but when I'm not into the mess or the process, I use the same coffee maker I've had for many years and I love it. It's an outdated version of the link below, but basically the same. No need to spend a lot of money on the fancy ones, I've founnd they just disappoint.

i have found most automatic drip coffeemakers to be about equal... i've bought $15 versions from the drugstore, they usually work fine for a few years, then sputter out and die. we received a nice upgrade for our wedding, it's a saucy red color, and i think it was $40ish. french press is the tits if it makes enough coffee for ya. i've also used old school italian percolaters, just to be as analog as possible, and mostly met with disastrous results. good luck!

Hey, I have a French Press that Ginger gave me, and I have never used it. Just use the old-fashioned kind. If you want it you can have it. Just let me know...
